In this first session of Just Neighbors, participants meet - on video - three families who are struggling to survive. They hear the families' stories and see how poverty affects every aspect of their lives as they work to provide for their needs. The video allows participants to consider individual people who are, indeed, our neighbors, rather than an anonymous "them."

The three families in the video are representative of the millions of working Americans who live in poverty-or near poverty. The session's quiz allows participants to take a look at how much they know about the problem of poverty in our society.
